Track re-built, operations restored

The Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) has re-constructed the track formation that got damaged at KM32 in Mwakanga (32Km South West of Dar es Salaam), following a landslide that occurred on 30th April 2020 and resulted in the track being rendered impassable. With this development, full operations have resumed and trains have begun delivering freight traffic into and out of Dar es Salaam, while passenger trains into and out of Dar es Salaam will also commerce henceforth. In particular, the Kilimanjaro Passenger Train between Dar es Salaam and Mbeya will resume on Tuesday 2 June 2020, running on the usual timetable, departing Dar es Salaam at 13:50hrs and u-turning from Mbeya on Wednesday 3 June at 20:00hrs.
